Reviews and Quality Standards
Our reviews live on our Google Business Profile, where we cannot edit or delete them. This page is about how we earn them: the process behind every installation and the standards you can hold us to.

Why Our Reviews Are Not Quoted on This Page
Most flooring websites in this city open with a wall of five-star quotes and no way to verify a single one. We are not going to do that. Our reviews are on our Google Business Profile, where anyone can read them in full, see who wrote them, and read the bad ones alongside the good — and where we cannot edit or remove a word.
Three commitments about reviews, for the record:
- We will never buy a review, use a review-generation service, or post a testimonial we cannot attribute to a real customer and a real project.
- We will never pay for one either. No discounts, no gift cards, no draw entries in exchange for feedback. An incentivised review is worthless to the next homeowner reading it.
- We will not filter out the bad ones. Our profile is on a platform where we cannot delete what you write, which is the only kind of review worth reading.
Alongside that, the most useful thing we can give you is a free, itemized estimate you can compare against anyone else's, and the list of standards below that you can hold us to.
Google reviews
Read Our Reviews, or Leave One
Our Google Business Profile is where our reviews live. If we have worked on your floor, an honest review there — whatever it says — is the most useful thing you can do for the next homeowner trying to choose a contractor.
It takes a minute and you need a Google account. Mentioning the material, the rooms and your part of Calgary helps more than a star rating on its own, because that is the detail the next person is actually searching for.
Both links open Google in a new tab. Prefer to tell us directly? Call (403) 992-7707 or emailcontact@rockhomepro.com — and if something went wrong, please tell us before you tell Google, so we have the chance to put it right.
The process
What Happens on Every Project
Good reviews are a by-product of a repeatable process. This is ours, and the third column is the part that matters — why each step exists.
| Step | What happens | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Free estimate visit | We measure every room, closet and stair, look at the existing floor and the subfloor, and test concrete for moisture where it matters. | An estimate built on real measurements and a real subfloor assessment does not change on installation day. |
| Written, itemized quote | Material, removal, subfloor preparation, installation, stairs and trim on separate lines, valid 30 days. | You can compare it against any other quote line by line, and see exactly what a cheaper number has left out. |
| Choosing the product at home | Samples are looked at in the room where the floor is going, next to your cabinets, walls and trim, in your own light. | Flooring that was chosen under showroom lighting is the most common source of regret we hear about. |
| Acclimation | Material sits in your home for 24 to 48 hours before installation, or longer where the manufacturer requires it. | Skipping this is a leading cause of gaps, peaking and failed click joints in Calgary's dry indoor air. |
| Subfloor preparation | Levelling, patching, grinding and re-securing a loose or squeaking subfloor, quoted as its own line. | Most flooring failures start below the surface. Covering a problem is the one shortcut that always comes back. |
| Installation to manufacturer spec | Expansion gaps, underlay, vapour barriers and membranes installed the way the product documentation requires. | It is also what keeps the manufacturer's product warranty valid — most denied claims are installation-related. |
| Walkthrough before we leave | We go through every room, transition, edge and stair with you while the crew and the tools are still on site. | Anything that needs attention gets fixed that day rather than becoming a callback. |
Standards
What You Can Hold Us To
| Standard | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Licensed and insured | Rock Flooring Calgary is licensed and insured. Proof of insurance is available on request. |
| WCB-Alberta coverage | Our crews are covered by WCB-Alberta. We send a clearance letter whenever a customer asks for one. |
| No deposit, ever | We do not ask for a deposit to book your project or to order material. Not a percentage, not a holding fee. |
| Written, itemized estimates | Every line priced separately and valid 30 days, so nothing is hidden inside a square-foot rate. |
| Brand independence | We are not tied to one manufacturer. We work with all major brands and can source your preferred product. |
| Removal priced honestly | Tear-out and disposal of your old floor is offered as part of the complete job and quoted as its own line — never buried in the installation price. |
| Workmanship warranty | Your installation is backed by our workmanship warranty, separate from the manufacturer warranty on the product itself. |
| Honest recommendations | Sometimes the right answer is a cheaper floor, a refinish instead of a replacement, or fixing a moisture problem first. We say so. |
Two of those are worth expanding on, because they are where flooring quotes in Calgary most often mislead people.
Removal is a real cost, and we say so. Tearing out and disposing of an old floor runs $0.50 to $3.00 per square foot depending on what it is — carpet and pad at the low end, glued-down vinyl or mortar-set tile at the high end. We offer the complete job including tear-out, but it appears as its own line rather than being absorbed into the installation rate, because a quote that claims removal is free has simply moved the money somewhere less visible. Our flooring removal page explains what drives it.
Subfloor preparation is quoted, not assumed. Levelling a basement slab or re-securing a squeaking upper floor runs $1 to $4 per square foot where it is needed, and nobody can promise the exact figure before seeing what is under the existing floor. A quote with no preparation line is not a cheaper quote — it is an incomplete one. See subfloor repair.
How to compare contractors
Five Questions Worth Asking Anyone
- Can I see proof of insurance and a WCB-Alberta clearance letter? Both should arrive without hesitation. In Alberta, an uninsured crew working in your home is your exposure, not just theirs.
- Is removal, subfloor preparation and trim in this number, or does it come later? This single question explains most of the gap between two quotes for the same rooms.
- What happens if you open the floor and find something unexpected? You want an answer about how it gets priced and approved, not a promise that it never happens.
- How long does the material acclimate before you install it? If the answer is "we install the day it is delivered", that is a floor with gaps in February.
- How much deposit do you need? Ours is nothing. A large upfront deposit before any work has started is the single most common feature of the flooring complaints we hear about.
Our free estimate page sets out exactly what our written quote contains, so you can see the answers to questions two and three before you even book a visit.

FAQ
Reviews and Feedback
How can I leave feedback about my project?
Two ways. Publicly, on our Google Business Profile — there is a direct link on this page, and it takes about a minute. Privately, call (403) 992-7707 or email contact@rockhomepro.com. We read every message, and feedback about something we got wrong is more useful to us than feedback about something we got right. If a project did not go the way it should have, we would rather hear it from you first and get the chance to fix it.
Why are the reviews not reproduced on this page?
Because a quote we have copied onto our own website proves nothing — we chose it, and we could have written it. On our Google Business Profile you can see who wrote each review, when, and what the critical ones say, and we cannot remove any of it. We do not publish testimonials we cannot attribute to a real customer and a real project, we have never bought a review, and we do not offer discounts or gifts in exchange for one.
What should a flooring review actually tell me?
The useful ones name the material and the rooms, say whether the final invoice matched the quote, mention how the subfloor was handled, and — most valuable of all — describe how the floor looks a year or two later. A review written the week of installation tells you about the crew; a review written two winters later tells you about the work.
How do I check that a Calgary flooring contractor is legitimate?
Ask for proof of liability insurance and a WCB-Alberta clearance letter, and confirm the business is licensed. Ask whether the quote includes removal, subfloor preparation and trim, or whether those come later as extras. Ask who is actually doing the work. And be wary of anyone who wants a large deposit before any work has started.
What do you do if a customer is unhappy?
We come back and look at it. Contact us at contact@rockhomepro.com or (403) 992-7707 and we will respond within one business day to arrange a time. If it is something we did, we fix it. If it is a product defect, we help you file the manufacturer claim. If it is damage or wear rather than a defect, we tell you that honestly and quote the repair.
Do you have a showroom where I can see your work?
No. Rock Flooring Calgary is a service-area business, so we bring samples to you instead. Choosing flooring in the room where it will be installed, in your own light and next to your own cabinets and trim, leads to better decisions than a showroom visit does.
Judge Us on the Estimate
Tell us the rooms and what is on the floor now. We measure, check the subfloor and give you a written, itemized estimate — valid 30 days, with no deposit at any stage.
