What's Included in Your Written Estimate

Every estimate we write breaks the job into separate lines, so you can see exactly what each part costs and compare quotes fairly.

Flooring material
The product, its colour and the square footage, including the right waste allowance for your layout.
Removal and disposal
Tear-out of the old floor, offered as part of the complete job and priced as its own line.
Subfloor preparation
Levelling, patching, grinding or squeak repairs the new floor needs.
Installation
Labour for the floor itself, including underlay, vapour barrier or membrane where required.
Stairs
Priced per step, with landings, open sides and bullnose steps noted.
Trim and transitions
Baseboard, quarter-round, transition strips, nosings and door trimming.

Estimates are valid for 30 days. We never charge a deposit — not to book your project, not to order material.

How the Estimate Visit Works

  1. Send your request using the form or call us.
  2. We contact you within one business day to confirm the scope and book a visit.
  3. We visit and measure. Every room, closet and stair is measured. We look at the existing floor and the subfloor, check transitions and door clearances, and test concrete for moisture where relevant.
  4. You receive a written, itemized estimate listing material, removal, preparation, installation, stairs and trim on separate lines. It stays valid for 30 days.
  5. We schedule the work when you're ready and order material in time to acclimate.

How to Prepare

You don't need to have everything decided. A few things make the visit more productive:

  • Know which rooms you want to include, even if you are undecided on some
  • Collect any flooring samples or product names you like
  • Note problem spots: squeaks, soft areas, cracked tile, past leaks
  • Have your condo bylaws handy if you live in a condominium
  • Think about timing, including when rooms can be emptied

Why Flooring Quotes in Calgary Vary So Much

It is common to get flooring quotes that are thousands of dollars apart for the same rooms. Usually the difference isn't the price of the floor itself — it is what each quote includes. A low number often leaves out one or more of the things that decide whether a floor lasts.

  • Subfloor preparation. Levelling an uneven basement slab or fixing a squeaky upstairs subfloor takes real time and material. Some quotes simply skip it.
  • Removal and disposal. Tearing out old carpet, tile or glued-down vinyl is labour-intensive, and disposal costs money. Check whether it's included or listed separately.
  • Underlay and membranes. A basic underlay versus an acoustic one, or tile with or without an uncoupling membrane, changes both the price and the result.
  • Stairs and trim. Stairs, nosings, transitions and baseboard are easy to leave off a quote and add back later.
  • Waste allowance. Diagonal and herringbone layouts need extra material. An estimate with too little waste can mean a mid-job shortage and a colour mismatch.
  • Product grade. Two "vinyl plank" quotes can involve very different wear layers and cores.

Because our estimates are itemized, you can put them side by side with any other quote and see exactly where the differences are.

Estimate FAQs

Is the flooring estimate really free?

Yes. The visit, the measurements and the written, itemized estimate are all free, and you are under no obligation to book the work.

How long is my estimate valid?

Estimates are valid for 30 days. Flooring material prices change, so after 30 days we confirm current pricing before booking your project.

Do I need to choose my flooring before the visit?

No. Many customers are still deciding between two or three options. Part of the visit is narrowing that down based on your subfloor, your rooms and how you use them, and we can price more than one option on the same estimate.

Can I supply my own flooring?

Yes. We install customer-supplied flooring, including tile. Tell us the product when you request your estimate so we can check its installation requirements and confirm the quantity covers your rooms, cuts and a few spares. We also work with all major brands and can source your preferred manufacturer.

Do you require a deposit?

No. We never charge a deposit — not to book your project and not to order material.
